Aloha Slot Facts
The Aloha slot, from NetEnt, is a six-reel and five-row Cluster Pays slot with an RTP of 96.42%. This was the first Cluster Pays slot. It’s a Hawaiian romp with Cluster Pays, Free Spins, Re-spins and Wilds.
This NetEnt classic is a low-volatility game that was launched in March 2016.
Intro
Aloha!, or should I say “hello” and welcome to the bright and breezy cartoony world of NetEnt’s Aloha Cluster Pays slot! it’s time to kick back and relax in a Hawaiian paradise with a slot game packed with plenty of extras and an unusual set of reels (you’re going to need to spin in groups of icons or “clusters” to win) which adds to the unique charms of this exotic little number.
The Aloha slot was pretty much the first cluster game out there.
NetEnt is the high-quality provider behind games like the Red Riding Hood slot, Narcos and Motorhead so my expectations were sky-high for this game and they delivered.
This is a good-looking game, even prettier than the Butterfly Staxx slot, and that’s saying something. But what’s it like to play? Let’s take a look.
Look and Feel
This is a game that is all about paradise. 3D sunsets over a curved sand beach and a volcano with palm trees in the background. On the right of the reels is a gigantic wooden statue head- complete with a flower necklace and massive gem (this Hawaiian god giggles as the reels spin and he celebrates your wins too!)
On the left of the reels tropical pink hibiscus flowers frame the action. Yes, NetEnt does slot design well (check out the Asgardian Stones slot if you don’t believe me), but if you want to be whisked off to paradise, say “Aloha” and fire this game up.
The first thing you notice apart from all of those flowers are the reels and how unusual they look. Not only are they bigger than the average with a 6×5 setup, but they are also adapted to allow the cluster pay mechanic to work.
The music is gentle drum taps and relaxing tropical tones to keep you on a holiday vibe. it’s a feel-good game alright.

Aloha Gameplay
Aloha has a different kind of payout mechanic: Cluster Pays. You have to collect groups or “clusters” of icons. To make a win you need to land a minimum of nine of these (they can be linked vertically or horizontally).
As well as the cluster format there are two further features to note: one is the Sticky Wins Re-Spins and the other is the Substitution Symbols mechanic.
The high-value symbols are a host of Hawaiian statue heads in red, green and blue, and these can become stacked (when this happens, single icons expand to take up two spaces on the reels). The lower-value icons are a selection of tropical specialties including a tasty pineapple, a coconut, a shell and a pink hibiscus flower.
Free Spins
Also, keep your eyes open for the Free Spins Scatter icon, it’s a purple sunset with a palm tree.
There is also a Wild Substitution icon; this is a wooden box with a question mark on it and this has a key role in making more wins for you by transforming into its neighbouring icons to help make you more winning combos.
When you’re in the base game and you land a cluster, you will trigger the potentially lucrative Sticky Wins Re-Spins feature. Your winning clusters remain in place while other icons all move. If you can add to your clusters then this can re-trigger this re-spin feature again.
Now for the Free Spins bonus. If you land three, four, five or six of the Free Spin symbols in the base game you will activate the bonus game with 9, 10, 11 or 12 free spins awarded.
And there’s more, as in this feature, all low-value icons are replaced by falling down the reels, leaving the higher icons in play. You can land further Free Spins icons during the bonus – one of our favourite features in a slot.
Conclusion
I like the atmosphere that NetEnt has created in Aloha, set in tropical climes with plenty of action going on. The bonus game is generous with the free spins topping out at 12 with the chance of re-triggering additional spins. All in all, the Aloha Slot is a relaxing game with a chilled out ocean-side atmosphere.
